Buena Park / Sheridan Park are located between Lake Michigan, Ashland (1600 W), Irving Park (4000 N), and Foster (5600 N). Previously home to Chicago’s movie industry and the famous Uptown Theater, this neighborhood flourished in the 1920’s and then experienced a significant decline from which it is finally emerging. It is now home to many ethnic restaurants and local shops as well as the Aragon Ballroom, the Riviera Theater, the Dance Center of Columbia College, and the Black Ensemble Theater. Lincoln Park stretches along the lakefront and provides running and bicycle paths. Foster Avenue Beach, Montrose Beach, Montrose Harbor and the Waveland Golf Course also highlight the lakefront. Revitalization of the neighborhood has prompted the construction of townhouses and condominiums, reducing the supply of rental apartments.

Buena Park, Uptown’s most upscale area, lies between Marine Drive (Lake Shore Drive) to the East, Kenmore Avenue to the West, Irving Park (4000 N) to the South, and Montrose (4400 N) to the North. Sheridan Park sits just to the north and is bordered by Montrose (4400 N), Lawrence (4800 N) to the North, Broadway to the East, and Clark to the West.

Buena Park / Sheridan Park has excellent public transportation with many bus routes and stops for the “L” red line for easy access into downtown (Loop) and the northern suburbs of Skokie, Evanston, and Wilmette. Street parking is much less congested than in other neighborhoods and does not require a parking permit.
